Quarter 2
Fundraising run
Our children from Reception through to Year 6 completed the 1 and 2 mile sponsored run in memory of Mrs Sue Ferguson, at Beckton South District Park. The energy, passion and determination to complete each lap was felt all through the run. It was also very encouraging to see so many parents turn up at each run to cheer their children on and support where they could.
Year 3 Stratford Library Visit
Year 3 took a trip to Stratford Library to attend an author event! The children met Adam Baron, who promoted his new book 'Oscar's Lion', and also read an extract from the beginning of the book. There was also an opportunity to ask Adam lots of questions about his life as an author - very interesting and inspiring!
Christmas Events at EWPS
We had our annual EWPS Winter Fair. Our families were fully engaged in the winter activities, it was a lovely evening for our community. Thanks to our school chef and all of the kitchen staff for a scrumptious christmas dinner and all the children who came dressed in their fabulous Christmas jumpers to raise money for Save the Children
London Fire Brigade workshops
The London Fire Brigade visited the school to deliver important fire safety workshops. In Year 2, LFB spoke to the children about smoke alarms and how they keep homes safe from fire; what to do in an emergency if there is a fire; and how to call 999. In Year 5, the workshop went into more detail - covering how fire can kill, destroy homes and that it spreads quickly. They found out that smoke can be as dangerous as fire, how smoke alarms work, and how to make sure they are working properly. LFB also spoke about how to make fire escape plans from homes (including tower blocks), what to do if there is a fire, and how to call 999.
Year 2 Science Museum Trip
Year 2 visited the Science Museum to discover different planes. It gave the children an opportunity to see the different planes they have been looking at and learning about in lessons.
